The traditional "press" tool for Japanese mokuhanga. The handmade version is made with washi, bracken glue and bamboo sheath. The inside of the sheath is removed and braided into a string and wound into a disk. The hard washi shell and the braided disk are covered with a bamboo sheath. Less expensive options will use a mix of cord and plastic to replace the labour intensive components.
