In general my process uses the following steps:
1: Photography ; I currently use a Google Pixel phone or a Panasonic Lumix ZS-100, both are easy to carry. I used to have a lot of photo equipment which was bulky to take along.
2: Image editing, colour separations, final artwork for each plate.
The pictures are in RGB (Red-Blue-Green) used for electronic displays so I convert them to CMYK (Cyan-Magenta-Yellow-Black) which is a colour model used for print output. Below is a sample of 10 colour separated (CMYK) plates for the image above from the back of our boat in Thieves Bay, Pender Island, BC. After the colours and tones are separate I then convert the plate to pure black so it shows up better for the laser print transfer to the wood block.

3: Transfer artwork to wood block, hand carving.
The artwork is printed on a laser printer, positioned on a wood block and transferred with lacquer thinner. The image gets reversed onto the plate so everything looks backwards.
4: Printing. For multiple plate (block) images careful alignment called registration is required to complete .
