Welcome to my catalog of wood block prints.
After a career in information technology & information security, My wife and I retired in 2015 and moved to Pender Island on the west coast of Canada . While in BC, we started a small business making artisan soap, shampoo and other bath and skin care products. I also did a lot of woodworking including wood turning, making bowls, cutting boards, coffee tables, candlesticks and other items for the home.
During this time I took several carving seminars with West coast Native Master Carver Herb Rice. This relief carving method led me into woodblock carving for printmaking.
I mainly focus on mokuhanga which is the traditional Japanese method of woodblock printing using water based inks. All of my colour prints require between 4-8 blocks of overlayed colour. I also do some traditional western method using oil based ink.
