I work in two main methods of block printing. The first is based on traditional Japanese "mokuhanga" using wood blocks, water based inks, strch paste and hand printing with a baren. Unlike the traditional Japanese method I generally use only cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks (CMYK). The separate colours of different intensity are hand carved on separate blocks. Typically there are between 6-12 separate blocks to complete one image. See Scenes page
The second style is traditional western style printing with oil based inks and a brayer to apply the ink. (Animal Series)
